Larry “The Lunger” Luttrell Resurfaces, Attempting To Thwart News Of Marder’s Ethics Violations

When we last heard from Lawrence “The Lunger” Luttrell, the three time election loser, was scurrying into obscurity while threatening to sue the Monmouth County Republican Committee for a radio ad that claimed his law license was “suspended” when in fact he had been ruled ineligible to practice law.

To our knowledge, no one has actually investigated whether or not Luttrell actually practiced law during his ineligibility.  He claimed he was unaware that he had been ruled ineligible, so maybe he did perform legal work when he was not legally authorized to do so. That would be a problem.

Now, nearly a year later, Luttrell has resurfaced in an apparent attempt to keep the voters of Marlboro in the dark about Councilwoman Randi Marder’s ethics violations and worse, the waste of $16,000 of Marlboro tax dollars that Mayor Jon Hornik and the Marlboro Township Council authorized to be spent in legal fees to appeal the New Jersey Local Finance Board’s findings that Marder committed eight ethical violations associated with the Township doing business with her husband’s companies.

Is LD 11 in play?

Giuseppe "Joe" Grillo, a Democratic candidate for Monmouth County Freeholder, was arrested in Neptune Twp on an outstanding warrant from Asbury Park last April

Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo

Poor Joe Grillo.

In his triCityNews column this week, the scofflaw former freeholder candidate blamed his defeat last month on President Obama.  After outspending Freeholder Director Lillian Burry and Deputy Director Gary Rich 4-1, Grillo celebrated that he and lunging Larry Luttrell lost by ‘only’ 6% while Senator Cory Booker lost Monmouth County to “a no-name crazy” by 10%.

Grillo also recounted a story about how a “guy in a NASCAR hat and an oversized white t-shirt” pointed a .45 at him as he was knocking on doors in a Bayshore town while celebrating that he and Luttrell won more towns than any other Democratic Freeholder slate since Amy Mallet defeated John Curley in 2008.

Those were the entertaining items in Grillo’s column.  The substance that Grillo reported with potential political impact in 2015 is the fact that he and Luttrell won the 11th legislative district by 3000 votes.  I hadn’t noticed that prior to reading Joe’s column.  I checked the numbers.  Joe can add.

Losers: The Battle for Monmouth

This morning we gave you the winners from the Battle for Monmouth.   Without further adieu, the losers:

Vin SmugVin Gopal. Underneath that boyish smile and pleasant demeanor is a nasty, dirty, ruthless political operative.  The Monmouth Democratic Chairman showed his true colors in 2013 with his defamatory allegations against Sean DiSomma in the Red Bank Council race. Give him several hundred thousand dollars, which the NJ Democrats did this year, and he tries to destroy the good names of distinguished public servants simply because they hold offices he wants. Monmouth Republicans, particularly some in the legislative delegation, who are friendly with Gopal should reconsider their judgement about him.  It no longer can be said that Vin is a wolf in sheeps clothing.  He’s a wolf.

The NJ Democratic State Committee, Essex County Clerk Chris Durkin, Senator Cory Booker, Assemblyman Joe Cryan, various labor unions and anyone else who gave Gopal money.  They got nothing for it.

The Asbury Park Press. Neptune Nudniks is no longer an appropriate moniker for them.  They are not stupid or incompetent as “nudnik” implies.  They are dishonest and lazy. Their coverage of the Monmouth County Freeholders race was spoon fed or edited by Gopal and his candidates Larry Luttrell and Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo.  Gopal, Luttrell and Grillo used APP to counter MMM’s coverage of the race, which we find hilarious and complimentary.  It didn’t work because APP no longer has influence in Monmouth County.

Their election night coverage was a disaster.  While APP was reporting on software problems at the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, MMM was reporting election results.

The Monmouth County Clerk’s Office.  The Monmouth County Election Results website is the New Jersey equivalent of HeathCare.gov.

Final: Burry and Rich win with a comfortable margin

With all districts and vote by mail ballots counted, Freeholder Director Lillian Burry and Deputy Director Gary Rich have been reelected.

After a major software snafu with the tabulation software that kept election officials up all night, the numbers were reported on County Clerk M. Claire French’s website at 6:13:58 this morning.

147,150 ballots were cast.  Burry 72,050, Rich 72,754, Luttrell 63,922, Grillo 63,102 IMG_5894 (1024x699)

Calling it for Burry and Rich

Monmouth GOP Chairman Shaun Golden announces Congressman Chris Smith’s victory and Freeholders Lillian Burry and Gary Rich’s lead

Monmouth County election officials said that it will likely take until 4am to complete the count of ballots in today’s election.

With approximately 60% of the vote counted, Republican Freeholders Lillian Burry and Gary Rich are leading Democratic challengers Lawrence Luttrell and Giueseppe “Joe” Grillo by over 6,000 votes.

Burry 51,211, Rich 51,594, Luttrell 45,123, Grillo 43,199.

MMM does not see a path for the Democrats to make up their deficit and calls the race for Burry and Rich.

Congratulations!

Turnout will be the key in Monmouth elections

Gary Rich and Lillian Burry

Gary Rich and Lillian Burry

The U.S. Senate race on top of the ballot between Senator Cory Booker and GOP nominee Jeff Bell has generated no excitement and little media attention.

The congressional races in CD 4 and CD 6 are not competitive.

The action, and the money, in the 2014 election cycle in Monmouth County has been in the Freeholder race where Democrats statewide have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to get a foothold in the county.

Republican incumbents Lillian Burry and Gary Rich have been fighting off a spirited and well funded challenge from Democrats Larry Luttrell and Giuseppe “Joe’ Grillo. When all the money is counted, the Democrats will probably have outspent the Republicans by more than 2-1.

More Lawlessness from Luttrell and Grillo

Democrats Luttrell and Grillo infringed on copyrights in campaign materials

Democratic Freeholder Candidates Giuseppe "Joe" Grillo and Lawrence Luttrell talked about their arrests and the Lincroft Village Green candidates forum

Democratic Freeholder Candidates Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo and Lawrence Luttrell talked about their arrests at the Lincroft Village Green candidates forum

Monmouth County Freeholder Candidates Lawrence W. Luttrell and Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo  say they want to clean up the ethics of one of the best county governments in the nation and that they will govern the way they campaigned.

They have run anything but an ethical campaign.  In addition to the lies and distortions of their opponents records, Luttrell and Grillo have blatantly violated federal copyright law and have continued to do so after being put on notice to stop.

Copyright infringement is commonly referred to as “theft” and “piracy.” The courts have ruled that as a legal distinction, the infringements are not theft or piracy. We point out the legal semantics because that has become important to Luttrell.  He was ruled ineligible to practice law in New Jersey and Florida, but has threatened to sue the Monmouth GOP for advertising that his law license was “suspended” and “taken away.”

In his attorney’s letter to Monmouth GOP Chairman Shaun Golden, Luttrell also complained that the GOP ads referred to him as a lawbreaker.  Luttrell is a lawbreaker.  He violated U.S. Copyright Law.  He and Grillo infringed on my property, that of The Star Ledger and possibly The Asbury Park Press.

Laughable Luttrell Complains About Monmouth GOP Radio Ads and Robo Calls–Threatens Legal Action

Laugable Larry the Lunger

Laughable Larry the Lunger Luttrell

Monmouth County Democratic Freeholder Candidate Lawrence W. Luttrell, like all bullies, can dish it out but he can’t take it.

The litigious lunger has spent two years campaigning for Freeholder (he came in last in 2013 and is heading that way again this year) by lying and distorting the records of his opponents, particularly over the farmland preservation deal involving Andrew Lucas. Yet when the truth about his own inglorious past gets revealed, Luttrell threatens legal action.

At the candidates forum sponsored by Lincroft Village Green last week in Middletown, Freeholder Director Lillian Burry was so upset that Luttrell blamed her for Operation Bid Rig that she would not shake his hand after the debate.  “You’re taking this stuff too personally,” Burry reported Luttrell as saying.

Look in the mirror Larry.  As a great Democrat once said, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”  You brought this on yourself with your lies and distortions.  You’re not dealing with tenants or advisories who can be easily bullied.

At issue are Monmouth GOP radio ads and robo calls that refer to Luttrell and his running mate, Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo, as “Lawbreakers” and announce that Luttrell’s law license was “suspended” and “taken away.”

Here’s one of the ads:

Do you have a Larry Luttrell horror story?

Grillo Luttrell 102114In recent days MMM has been contacted by readers with horror stories involving their personal and professional dealings with Monmouth County Democratic Freeholder Candidate Lawrence W. Luttrell.

Each person spoke of substantial financial losses, shattered dreams, intimidation and fear of Luttrell’s bullying tactics.

Luttrell wants to be a Monmouth County Freeholder; one of five elected officials responsible for overseeing a $500 million county government with 3300 employees that provides roads, public safety and law enforcement, health and human services, parks and recreation, a world class library system, vocational schools, senior services and much more.

For the people we’ve talked to, the thought of Luttrell in a position of power is frightening.

If you have a Larry Luttrell horror story, or know someone who does, and are willing to share it, please contact Art Gallagher at artvg@aol.com quickly.  Your identity can be kept confidential if you so choose.

Lying Larry Luttrell Blames Lillian Burry For Operation Bid Rig

Democratic Freeholder Candidates recount their arrests, Threaten Blogger

By Art Gallagher

Democratic Freeholder Candidates Giuseppe “Joe” Grillo and Lawrence Luttrell talked about their arrests at the Lincroft Village Green candidates forum

Monmouth County Democratic Freeholder Candidate Lawrence W. Luttrell continued his assault on Freeholder Director Lillian Burry’s character tonight at a candidates forum in Middletown.

“There have been 10 indictments since Lillian Burry has been in office,” Luttrell declared at a League of Women Voters moderated debate sponsored by the Lincroft Village Green Association at the Lincroft Elementary School.  “Monmouth County has a corruption problem, ” he said.

Luttrell rattled off 10 names, starting with former Freeholder Harry Larrison and six other Operation Bid Rig defendants who were arrested in February of 2005.

“Those people were gone before I got there,” Burry angrily shot back at Luttrell.

Burry was first elected to the Freeholder Board in November of 2005, nine months after the Operation Bid Rig arrests.
