Rutgers Student, 19, from Colts Neck, Struck and Killed By Suspended Driver

NEW BRUNSWICK– Cory Aufiero, 19 of Colts Neck, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:30 Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle driven by David Stewart, 36, of Somerset, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation by the New Brunswick Patrolman Sean Cahill and the Middesex County Prosecutor’s Detective David Abromaitis, Stewart was driving a 2011 Nissan Sentra and traveling west on George Street near Albany and Somerset Streets. Aufiero lost his footing and stumbled onto the street where he was struck by the vehicle.

Colts Neck Library Book Sale This Weekend

Colts Neck Friends of the Library is holding its annual book sale today, March 16 and tomorrow, March 17.  The event made it to Greg’s List but is getting a special mention here because a special person asked for it.

If you’re a early morning reader of MMM and an avid reader, get ready to hustle over to the Colts Neck Library right now for the 9 am pre-sale which gives you an hour to get the best books.  Early admission is only a $5.00 donation.  Admission is free from 10am-5pm the rest of today.

Tomorrow, in addition to being St Patricks’s Day, is Bag of Books for $5.00 day with free admission from 9am-5pm.   Teachers get a bag of books for $5 today with school ID.

Hillsdale Road in Colts Neck to close December 4 for bridge replacement

Long Branch Official: Mr. Gopal is not listed as a qualified, trained firefighter in the City of Long Branch

Vin Gopal, the candidate for State Senate in the 11th Legislative District, is not a first responder.

Gopal apparently knows he’s been caught lying to the public for months and is now trying, poorly, to explain himself.

The Asbury Park Press knows about Gopal’s misrrepresentations.  Inexplicably, APP has yet to report on Gopal’s dishonesty.   APP endorsed Senator Jennifer Beck for reelection over Gopal.

Improvements Started At Colts Neck Bottleneck

Federal, state, county and local officials gathered in Colts Neck on Friday for the ground breaking of the long awaited improvements to the intersection of State Route 34 and County Route 537.  The project is designed to ease traffic congestion at the crossroad that is traveled by 37,000 motorists daily and to reduce the use of local roads by the thousands of motorists using alternate routes. Jughandle Brewing With Ingredients Grown In Monmouth County

Hundreds say goodbye to Marine from Colts Neck killed in plane crash

Memorial Service for U.S. Marine Crewmaster Daniel Baldassare

A memorial service to honor the life of U.S. Marine Crewmaster Daniel Baldassare will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at Colts Neck High School.  The service will start at 11 a.m.  The Baldassare family has invited all to attend.

Volunteers are requested on Monday, July 24 at 6 p.m. to bring American flags to line the football field.  On Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., volunteers are asked to bring a flag a form a line of honor from 5 Points Road to the football field for the Baldassare family’s entrance to the funeral.

Daniel, 20, was one of the 16 U.S. servicemen killed on July 10 when a KC-130 refueling plane crashed in a Mississippi cornfield.  15 U.S Marines and a Navy sailor perished in the accident.
