Ocean Township Cops Seek Kohl’s Shoplifter

The suspect, pictured left, was captured on video surveillance shoplifting from Kohl’s in the Middlebrook Shopping Plaza on Route 35.  He left the area and the OTPD have been unsuccessful in there to identify him.

Anyone who can identify this man is requested to contact the case detective, Mike Legg. **All information received will be confidential**

Ocean Township Police Ask Public’s Assistance To Identify Wegmans Shoplifter

Ocean Township 111215The Ocean Township Police Department is asking the public to assist them in identifying a suspected shoplifter.

The suspect, pictured left, was captured on surveillance video in Wegmans, 1104 Route 35, in the Township.  He fled the area and the OTPD has been unsuccessful in their attempts to identify him.

Fire tears through apartment building in Ocean (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

UPDATED: Fluff and Fold, a laundromat  located at 1013 Route 35 North in Ocean Township (across  the street from Wegman’s) is holding a clothing drive for residents of the Twinbrooks Village Apartments who were displaced by the fire.  Owner Charles Measley is also providing $1000 worth of free laundry services to victims of the fire. Ocean Township Police Seek Help In Locating Missing Man

The Ocean Township Police Department has asked for the public’s help in locating a 27 year old man who was reported missing from a Township mental health facility on Saturday, July 3.user33386-1436362659-media1_d3b2a1_180_240_PrsMe_

Nicholas Johnson, a 27 year old white male who stands 6’05” tall, weighs 170 lbs. and has brown hair and hazel colored eyes was last seen at the Gateway Treatment Center on Saturday.

Three photographs of Mr. Johnson that depict him at various times over the last several years and included in this post. At the time of his disappearance he was seen wearing black pants and a black coat.

Fox Tests Positive For Rabies

A fox that attacked a pet dog in the vicinity of West Lincoln Ave in Oakhurst on June 7 has tested positive for rabies, according to a statement from the Ocean Township Police Department.general1

Rabies is fatal once symptoms develop.

Incumbents Sweep In Ocean Township

Donna Schepiga, Rich Long, Chris Siciliano, William Garofolo and and Rob Acerra were elected to a three year term government Ocean Township

Mayor Chris Siciliano and his One Ocean Team easily fought off a challenge by Ocean Together in a non-partisan municipal election in Ocean Township.

Siciliano was the top vote getter with 3,001 ballots cast for him.  Deputy Mayor William Garofolo earned 2, 793 votes. School Board member Robert Acerra, the only non-incumbent council member on the slate came third with 2,775 votes. Councilman Richard Long got 2,614 votes and Councilwoman Donna Schepiga won 2,490 votes.   The five winners were elected to govern the Township through 2019.

4,038 of the Townships registered voters, 21.7%, cast ballots.

4 year old crashes car into Ocean Township building

Ocean Township Police LogoOcean Township- A four year old child who was left in a running car with his two year old sister climbed into the driver’s seat and put the car in reverse yesterday morning, causing the vehicle to back across a Rustic Drive parking lot before being stopped by a brick stairwell, according to a statement issued by the Ocean Township Police Department.  Neither child was hurt and there were no injuries reported.

The children’s father, Travaris S. Reevey, 41 of Ocean, was arrested on the scene by Officer Alisa Martinez and Detective Michael Melody.  Reevey was charged with child endangerment. During his arrest it was discovered that he was wanted on a Contempt of Court Warrant in Asbury Park.

Two School Construction Referendums Fail, One Passes

OTHS Physical Performance Wellness CenterVoters in the Freehold Borough, Ocean Township and West Long Branch School Districts went to the polls yesterday to decide the fate of school construction bonding proposals.

In Freehold, 611 voters, 11% of those registered rejected borrowing $33 million for school construction by 241 to 370.  An identical referendum was defeated by Borough voters on September 30 by 273 to 374.   There are 1644 students residing in the district.   The average property tax bill in Freehold Borough would have increased by $278 per year had the measure passed.
