Arnone confronts Curley for use of gay slur

In an uncharacteristic outburst, Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone confronted his disgraced colleague, John P. Curley for disparaging two County employees with a gay slur. “Deny you said it,” Arnone shouted at Curley during a public comment by David D’Amico, a representative of Garden State Equality.

Hanlon certifies Curley’s nominating petition

Disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley survived a challenge to his nominating petitions for reelection, according to a letter from Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon dated June 13, which was obtained by MMM via OPRA request.

After noticing irregularities in the Curley petitions, Monmouth County Republican Chairman, Sheriff Shaun Golden, submitted a formal challenge to the petitions requesting that Hanlon’s staff review the signatures before certifying Curley’s candidacy for Freeholder as an Independent.

Hanlon found that over 120 signatures were invalid because the signers were not registered to vote in Monmouth County or the signature on the petition did not match the signature in the state voter records.  The censured freeholder still has over 100 valid signatures, making his overall petition valid.

Curley’s Defective Petitions

Disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley blew his chance to compete for the Republican nomination for Monmouth County Freeholder back in January, because he did not get his letter of intent and nominating petition filed on time.

Now, Curley might not make it onto the ballot as an Independent candidate because the petitions he filed with the Monmouth County Clerk on Tuesday are defective.

A review of the 398 signatures Curley filed indicates that only 165 of them are valid.  Only 100 valid signatures are required to get the misogynist, homophobe, anti-Italian bigot on the ballot, so his candidacy might be safe.  However, of the 165, there are apparent duplicates within Curley’s paperwork that are still being researched.   A review of Democrat candidate Amber Gesslein’s petitions and Republican Sue Kiley’s petitions for additional disqualifying duplicates is ongoing.

Transcript: Curley called DiMaso a “Staten Island Guinea”

Disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley

The report prepared by retired Acting Supreme Court Justice Mary Catherine Cuff states that disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley referred to Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso as a “Staten Island Guinea,” according to the transcript of federal court proceedings Curley has brought against Monmouth County.  DiMaso was a Monmouth County Freeholder at the time that Curley said “that Staten Island guinea” and “I ought to stab her with my insulin pack.”

Staten Island is the New York City borough where DiMaso was raised. “Guinea” is a derisive ethnic slur that refers to people of Italian heritage. The slur is derived from “Guinea Negro” a term that referenced Blacks or people of mixed ancestry from Guinea, the African country in West Africa. The term is “the most vile” one can call an Italian, according to Urban Dictionary, and is used as a slur for Italians because of many of them have darker skin than Anglo Saxons/Germans, according to the Racial Slur Database. Curley Accused of Official Misconduct, Corruption

By Art Gallagher

Freeholder John P. Curley

The FBI and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office have conducted at least five interviews into the conduct of Freeholder John P. Curley and former Monmouth County Counsel Timothy B. Middleton, Esq., according to former Assemblyman Michael Panter, in his capacity as in-house legal counsel of Realty Data Systems, LLC (RDS), a company that performs property inspections for many municipalities participating in the New Jersey Assessment Demonstration Program (ADP).

Panter disclosed the law enforcement investigation into Curley and Middleton in a detailed nine page letter to Monmouth County Freeholder Director Tom Arnone, Monmouth County Counsel Michael Fitzgerald, and County Administrator Teri O’Connell, with copies to the Prosecutor’s Office and the FBI, wherein the former legislator alleges that Middleton was the author of the anonymous letter which alleged corruption in the ADP, that Curley referred, with great fanfare and press coverage, to the Prosecutor in September of 2015, during the height of his last reelection campaign. Is Curley’s Birthday a happy one for Monmouth County taxpayers? Employees?

Happy Birthday to disgraced Freeholder John P. Curley.

Now that he is 65 and eligible for Medicare, hopefully Curley will give the Monmouth County property taxpayers a break and get off the County’s self insured employee heath benefits program.

In his law suit against this fellow freeholders and all of the people of Monmouth County, Curley claims he is not an employee.  Yet, when it comes to getting health care, Curley claimed he was an employee of the County and not of his brother’s car dealership (which pays property taxes in Ocean County).
