Expected To Resign as GOP Chairman
George Gilmore, the Toms River attorney convicted on tax and bank fraud charges last week, has resigned from the Ocean County Board of Elections, where he was chairman, according to a report at New Jersey Globe. Gilmore is expected to resign as GOP County Chairman today or tomorrow.
Gilmore was defiant upon his conviction last Wednesday, announcing through his attorney that he had no intention of resigning as County Chairman.
NJ Attorney General Gurbir Grewal announced the following day that he would go to court to have Gilmore removed from his “public positions.”
