when this calm, decent, hard- working public servant retires: his dedication to life and the protection of women and children will be very hard, if not impossible, to replace. While he has sometimes voted for more liberal bills, his life’s work will stand, for his steadfast holding to his values and principles, a rare quality today , in an elected official. He is also one of most pleasant and ego- free elected officials I have ever known and supported. ( another very rare quality. Keep on keeping on, Congressman, for many more years- we need you. Don’t let the crass, classless, often paid protesters, get to you!

Sad Day–so now anyone who doesn’t want white male congressmen dictating against what we do in our bedrooms re birth control and free choice is crass and classless?

Chris Smith is a one-issue absentee congressman who knows zilch about his district and cares even less about his constituents’ values and interests.

you feel that killing innocent life is a bad thing.. BTW, he wouldn’t be in office so long if he wasn’t “in touch” and working hard for his constituents. In his tenure, he has been re- districted more than anyone in our NJ delegation, and always wins big. Am sympathetic yet incredulous, that so many appear obsessed with sex, and think anyone really cares what you do in your bedroom- we don’t. We just don’t like killing children deemed “inconvenient!”
