Belmar residents protesting the corrupt practices of Mayor “Lawless Matt” Doherty’s administration of local government were out in force last evening to greet Senator Cory Booker and other Democrats from throughout New Jersey who descended upon the Dirty Doherty home to raise funds for Monmouth County Democrat Chairman Vin Gopal’s quest to turn Monmouth County into Esssex, Hudson and Union counties.

Gopal greeted Booker with a warm embrace when the former Newark Mayor exited the black SUV that drove through the picket line to enter the Doherty estate.

PolitickerNJ reported that Booker’s remarks touting Gopal’s efforts to turn Monmouth blue were met with enthusiasm while his excitement about Hillary Clinton fell flat on the crowd. ┬áThe photos of the event posted by PolitickerNJ show a somber group of Dems. Even Booker and Doherty look worried when Gopal addressed the somber group who thought they were coming to support a “rock star” in Doherty, but found a community up in arms about his lawlessness.Doherty fundraiser 081016

Outside the Doherty estate, grassroots activists held signs protesting “Lawless Matt’s” selling helicopter landings on borough property in exchange for campaign donations, withholding a liquor license transfer after the bar owner failed to donate to his campaign and the run up of almost $50 million in debt.

A couple things. First, hit the spell check before posting a story. Busch League. Second, the group of protesters were 9 at the most but didn’t have the guts to do anything but stand there with their goofy signs. A real protest would have had some chants or crows participation. When I arrived and walked in with my kid, we were both disappointed in the lack of originality and he’s 11. Lastly, the crowd was hardly somber. The event raised a lot of money (this campaign raises more than the GOP ticket at every turn) and it was because of an amazing speaker in Cory Booker. As usual, a made up story by a third rate blog.

I guess you spend a lot of time reading this third rate blog, thousands do, me too. So you are encouraging yelling from the protestors, no I think they were respectful and clearly made their point. I was there with many more than 9 protestors. Happy you noticed their goofy signs, again thousands of others did as well through social media. That includes you too. Lots of publicity regarding Lawless Matt Doherty and the 49 million dollar debt he created for Belmar taxpayers, his unlawful behavior regarding a liquor license transfer, civil rights violations, and general inability to be financially responsible. Hopefully you explained everything to your son, you know about following the law, obeying the law, being lawful as mayor. There’s more to an effective protest that shouting.

So the democrats that attended that fund raiser are proud to ridicule residents who have had to sue their mayor over and over, to make fun of open peaceful protest, to back a mayor and council who ignore the rule of law for their own advancement, to encourage disregarding a judges order because they “don’t agree”, cost local taxpayers thousands and thousands of dollars in legal fee losing 10, TEN , lawsuits. That is the Democratic Party that wants to run Monmouth County!!!! You should be hanging your head in shame, not trying to act like a big man in front of your 11 year old

Clearly, Crooked Matt, errr, Lawless Matt is only interested in furthering his own lust for power.

He tried to railroad his pet projects through illegal funding formulas and now has lost his latest round in court to line his pockets thru pay to play.

He now claims he will spend even more tax money after a Special Election in which the residents will get to vote on his revised pay to play ordinance that would allow him to line his pockets from town vendors and PACs. No quid pro quo – LOL.

He plans to sue again when the residents vote his plan down. Too bad he isn’t forced to use his own money to do so and will use the township attorney.

Total disgrace. But then, he learned from his idols, Booker, Clinton, and Sweeny

Just you try showing up to a Council Meeting Gallagher. I’ll sic the cops on you before you even get to the microphone, the way I’ve done to countless senior citizens and concerned residents before you. Unless of course, you want to pony up $2500. Then not only will I let you speak, I’ll let you land a helicopter out back!

Looks like the author of this story struck a nerve. Otherwise Matty Boy wouldn’t be sending his lackies on here to stir the pot. Maybe there’s more to this “Salt”/liquor license story than meets the eye?

Matt – I have not seen a career politician with such a callous disregard for the law since I watched the Democratic National Convention. Oh wait, your wife used to work for the Clinton’s. Surprise, surprise.

The reason the protesters did not shout, act aggressive or unlawful is they were not hired by the DNC.

They are a grassroots group of Belmar residents that are angry over the illegal acts committed by Lawless Matt Doherty and the $49 million debt he has created in Belmar.

  8. Mayor Asshat Has Got To Go! said at 6:14 pm on August 12th, 2016:

If you live in Belmar, you care about it. I’m a homeowner and a Democrat and I am totally disgusted with our administration. To paraphrase the McCarthy-era quote “Have you no dececency, sir?” But it’s not just Mayor Asshat. It’s equally the cronies on the town council. He comes up this these unethical, self-serving ideas, and these council dimwits support him tooth and nail. McGovern more so. I’m torn as to whether I’d like to see Asshat win the Freeholder election. On one hand it gets Asshat out of town, but only to do the same thing on a grander, county-wide scale. McGovern is the likely shoe-in if Matty-boy vacates his job, and I know doorknobs that are more intelligent than him. Lawless Matt… please lose and go back to Edison. And stay there. And take McGovern and Christie with you. It will take is homeowners years and years to undo what you have done. You’re a disgrace to the Irish as well.

The phrase is Bush League- not Busch League. Referring to baseball teams below the minor leagues, or bush ( the “sticks”) rural or country.
